Northern Lights Yukon, Canada September 2012
Crap is was a cold night!! 2 degrees below zero. I'm standing outside the house where my friend Marion and I were staying. It was about 2.30 in the morning. I had 3 pairs of trousers, 3 tops, thermals, a coat, gloves, 2 pairs of socks. I looked like the Michelin Man... and I was still freezing!!!
And yet, when I saw the first glimmer of the lights the cold was forgotten. Such an extraordinary feeling. I was totally on my own, Marion was asleep and I felt like the light show was for me and me alone. The feeling was so electric that the hairs on my body all stood to attention at the sight of such magnificence.
know some people may have been disappointed that the full moon took away from the Northern Lights.. Not me, I reckon it gave a mystical ethereal touch to the experience.
The Northern Lights - done! One more item off my Bucket List!
